Tim goes out of town and misses all the fun. Little 4.4 shaker not far from his rancho. My maternal unit in the same area reported it to me. Just a quick rattle and gone.
If they were fried, they might have been soft shell. They are a real treat!My favorite is Dungeness but I have had some awesome fried blue crab. Wouldn't know how to cook it that way but it was good!

Did you eat the entire crab without picking the meat from the shell? If so, they were soft shell.I believe they were softshell, had them in Pensacola Florida at a seafood restaurant called "Landrys", might be a chain but was good.
