Strange/Stupid Question

Does the pump in the transmission pump while the engine is runnig, or only when the car is moving?

Essentially what I am asking is if I can break in my cam, before I re-install the tranny lines, or am I going to be puking tranny fluid all over the floor?

The front pump is driven by the torque converter. If the torque converter is turning, the transmission will be pumping fluid. No lines = big mess. Sorry.

When the engine is turning the impeller in the trq-converter is too, which means I would hook up the lines.
