Well, I convinced my dad to buy some 53'x2'x3'steel rectangular boxes with the anticipation that I could just weld the plate on the front and just throw em in with a little cutting on the top to clear the floor and rear subframe and ends and relocate the parking brake cable. Not true, I need to cut out the seat braces on the bottom edge near the end. :mumum: So, when I get the time, I'll put them on and document the installation process for you guys who want to put them in an early Valient or barracuda so you know what you are up against.

You can/could also just buy the US car tool sub frame connectors that don't require you to cut through the floor but DOES weld to the bottom of the floor.

I used 1.5 by 2" rectangular tubing. Cut the front of the rear sub-frame open and slip the tubing in an welded a 2 by 3 plate to the front to weld to. Once all welded in the tubing is against the foot well in the rear but did not require any floor modifications and the parking brake cable did not need to be relocated up front.

I cut out the whole floor and installed stamped steels rails the same dimensions as the rear frame rails. I think they were 3.75"x2.5" with 1" lips on the top to weld to the floor. Very labor intensive way to do it, but if you look at it from underneath it looks like it grew there from the factory. When I started the project us car tool hadn't released early a connectors yet. I would use their product if I had to do it all over again.

I'm a little surprised by this.
Mine went in a '65 Dart with no problem. They come through the floor behind the driver's seat and enter the front of the rear sub. I used 2 X 3 X .125 wall and tied the floor to it as well. Where in Wisconsin are you ? If you're close to civilization ( Mpls. St. Paul ) you could swing by and see how it worked on my deal........your floor ought to be pretty similar.

Man thanks for your post! I went to there sight and looked at those. They are sooooooooo nice looking. I am going to order a set for my Dart. Heck I might order a set for my other dart to!! No sense and making some home made put together ones when there are ones that nice out there!

Now I just have to find some one better than me to weld them in! LOL
