Super six sputter

I recently bought a 2 barrel slant. The problem is when I mash the throttle down it sputters and almost kills the engine. I went to Summit and bought a rebuilt carb and it still does it. Can any tell me anything else that might be wrong.

Is your timing set right?point gap?Getting enough spark,could be a few things,have you set the tappets recently?Float level in the carby could be out.

Does it only sputter when you take off, or when you're cruising down the highway? Is it possible your vacuum advance isn't working or maybe a vacuum leak?

The car hasn't been on the road yet. But when I push the peddle really fast to rev it it sputters.I have replaced spark plugs, plug wires, carb and adjusted the valves.

Connect a timing light to it while you do your sputter test to see if it's ignition or fuel. If it's spark, the light will miss also.
