Hey guys and gals I'm looking to either super charge my 225 or switch to a 360-380 what so you think I should do? And which one would be cheaper?

I don't know why it's not done more often. With all these late model blowers off the GM and Fords floatin around, I'd think this would be a really cool deal. I thought I might try to adapt one to a SB, but most of them seem to be too small to feed the engine.

Biggest problem I could see with them is there would be a lot of fab work, and you'd need so "impressive" brackets to support the blower, IE you don't want to stress the intake for strength.

On the other hand the availability of turbos is SO vast....................

If you have the fab skills and/ or the money go turbo, if you don't like it you can v8 later.

The problem with all the new blowers is the teflon coating, it comes off with fuel and then you lose something like 10-20% efficiency... I was working towards doing a 6-71 but the guy pulled out.

Am I wrong? I'd think a turbo off a Cummins / ram would be just right for a slant

I know Pishta is all over the turbo game and knows them off the top of his head. I recall it was a little to big for a stock motor.

A turbo takes no horsepower to drive, a supercharger does.

yea but a turbo dosn't sound like this...

If I do go with either a supercharger or a turbocharger on my 225 what else would I need. I have a 1974 dodge dart swinger.

Also what parts do I need for a supercharger or a turbo and what brand will give me the best bang for my buck? And could I find a reliable one at a junkyard?

Over in the Turbo Forum there are Slant six builds going on. Pishta has done a low buck set up which I am copying. A Mandrel bent U pipe from the exhaust manifold and a the turbo goes on the other end.

I am collecting parts for this as we speak. What I like about this upgrade is you can do it in stages. Upgrade as you see fit or need. You can do the bare minimum and then upgrade if you get the bug for more power.

Given the space, layout and general lack of instant oomph with a slant, I would think one of those set-ups would be the way to go.

Would a centrifugal blown slant have got a good review in CI TonyMopar? :)

This. Plus the fact that if you try to get around it the plumbing can get ugly. Also with a turbo the initial buy in isn't so bad. I think the idea above of crossing under the motor to use passenger side "real estate" is the way to go.

As far as size... It'll be hard to find something OEM. Maybe something used from a hopped up import. Make sure to get a carb set up for blow thru, or build a sealed carb box.

No matter what you do it will take a ton of fab work so if you can't weld.....:banghead:

thats my turbo build. prices are broken down. it took me a while to get everything. but maybe a month working a couple hours a week on it to get it all together. you may be able to spend less if you can get some of the things second hand. its running now but im waiting on some electric fans since i have the radiator out to do the water pump. once that is all wrapped up ill take it out on the street and see where to start with the tuning.

I can weld haha I have a mig, and a arc welder. I'm gonna end up painting it black with red interior. Right now it's like a deeper tan with white interior. But one of the reasons I want to supercharge it is well other than the added horse power is so I can put a blower on it. That would just look mean as hell!

Either one that you decide on, is going to take some fab skill. Make sure to make a list of everything your going to need before you start, i wouldn't buy I thing till after you figure out how your going to mount the turbo/supercharger. Theres alot of different ways to do it.
After its all said and done you won't be disappointed my car is a blast to drive and it pulls like a mild big block.
