Having my 68 Cuda Fastback mini tubbed .
Mopar inboard spring relocation kit with sliders for the rear hangers . Super Stock 002 & 003 springs .
I went to measure for tire fitment today and when I let the car settle on the leaf springs for correct axle location , The car sits like I have a lift kit or air shocks under it .
I had a 29.5" tall tire in there and had a good 2" between the tire and the wheel well .
I prefer to have some of the tire up in the well . Does anyone de-arch the SuperStock springs , Will I need to buy other springs , like the Caltracks or Mopar HD springs .
I have my factory stock springs I guess I'll throw up in it and see how they look. It was a 318 automatic car . Soon to be a 600 hp 505 big block .
The chassis guy recommended ladder bars and coil overs .
It is a street car that will see a little track time. Looks like a 29" tall tire and about a 14" cross section will be tight , but fit . I like the Mickey Thompson SR Radials for the rear .
What should I do about the ride height ??????
Thanks :burnout:
Donnie

You can flip the front hanger and it will lower the car about 1.5" but I`ve heard that the S/S springs will settle a little bit given some time.

If you are mini tubbed you can't flip the front hangar as it no longer exists.

I have the same exact set up on my 67 cuda.

I was way up in the air too so I used 1.5 inch lowering blocks from mancini racing and the wheels fit nice now, but I do have some wheel hop although my pinion angle needs adjusted a bit so you may be okay.

You may get a few guys tell you to stay away from lowering blocks if you are going to be racing but I would try them first and see how it feels, but if you get wheel hop you may just want to trade up for a set of the lower arch ss springs.

I am using weld draglites in the rear with a 7.5 inch backspace.
The rear tires are M/T sportsman pro's 29x12.5x15.

My forward portion of the wheelwell had to be massaged 1.5 inches forward so the tire would not rub.

I moved the Dana back 1" , this centered it in the wheel well . I also have the front hanger drilled 1" higher .
Its just way to high now with the super stock springs .
I think a 29" would slide right in there .
Whats the cross section width of your tire ?
and how much spare room do you have ?
I was going to get my tires at Jegs tomorrow after the Goodguys show in Columbus Ohio, now I need to get this straightened out .

I should have read your first post with greater care, if the mods are already done and you`ve drilled the hanger 1" higher than normal then that`s about all you can do there. With a driver ,battery, and fuel the car may sit lower than what it appears to now and given some time the springs will settle some.

Donnie, you never said what size wheels and backspace you are using, and wether or not your rear end is stock or narrowed.

With a stock rear end you will need 7.5 inch backspace no doubt with a 15x10 wheel.

You might want to get one of those wheel measurement tools just to be sure your wheel/tire combo is right before you spend your $$$.00.

My cross section is 12.5 sidewall face to sidewall face and i have 1/4" between inner sidewall to springs and 1/2" between outter sidewal face to wheel lip.

My wheel lips are not cut or rolled flat.

I have a Dana 60 that I will have cut to size when I get the Tire size figured out .
The wheels are Torque Thrust D's 15 X 10 with 3 3/4 in back spacing with WilWood disc brakes
Car is Minitubbed
The last pic is how I would like the car to sit , The wheel well opening is over 2" above the tire when all is aligned up instead of up in the wheel well like I want .

I found a Place in Dayton Ohio, about 3 miles from where I work that makes , re-arches and De-arches springs.
Acme Spring Automotive Specialists
Quote was $80-100 to de-arch both springs .
I guess I'll try that route .

You still may have to stretch that wheel lip towards the front opening a bit so you don't rub there.

Let us know how that dearching works out as I may do that some day.

Theres a guy over on Moparts.com that did his super fine 68 Fastback Hemi Cuda . He had his de-arched to lower the car 2 1/2 " . That car is fine ...
Heres a few pics of his car with the spring work done ..

Got my tires , picking up my springs today also
Tires are 325/50/50 M/T ET Street Radial .
Only 28" tall , but almost 13 1/2" cross section . I've seen these on allot of mini tubbed A bodies and I know these will work , and still look & hook good . They will almost fill the wheelwell from the lip to the frame .

I don't know why but I put S/S springs on my Dart and the thing sits a lot lower than some I have seen. They are the 3000lb springs too.
