I found a 741 case 3.55 suregrip center section for sale for $400. Is that a good price.

If it has the clutch type suregrip unit it is a decent price. The clutch type suregrip units alone cost almost that new. The 741 is not the most desireable of the bunch but is plenty durable enough for a street or mild bracket car.

Good luck finding rings & pinions for it, they are almost non-existent. I've got a 741 SureGrip with 3.91's...I called just about every gear vendor out there and no one has anything for the 741, steeper gears, nothing.

i paid $200 for a complete 391 suregrip out of a 65 pickup. had to cut it down and have the axels cut but that was fairly cheap.
