I am thinking of replacing my current torsion bars with some .890"s and adding sway bars to the front and rear, but was having a hard time deciding what size sway bars to get and also if anyone has any companies/experiences with sway bars they wouldn't mind sharing their opinion on would be greatly appreciated. I still want the smooth ride I have now but I want my Duster to handle better as well. I know of one company who sells sway bars in sizes 1, 1-1/8 for the Front and 3/4, 7/8 for the Rear. My car is mainly a street car but I drag race every once in awhile.

Thanks

I have an ADDCO 1 1/8" bar on the front of my 68 Barracuda. It came with all the harware and nice sturdy brackets for mounting. I have the 73-76 spool k-member so the bar goes throught the k-member and mounts to the lower control arm inboard of the strut rod.

I also have .890" big block bars and KYB Gas-A-Just shocks with a 360. The car has a nice firm well controlled ride and the bar flattened out the car going through turns tremendously. Once I get the power steering swapped in I will have a car that handles as well as a modern car.

I'm running the same setup, except I switched over to manual steering from power. 0.89 torsion bars, manual steering KYB shocks. It handles loads better than stock.

I also have the Addco 1 1/8 bar, but it's not in yet. Maybe in a week or so.

Bars come with different mounting arrangements. Some use factory location tab, others use a bracket that mounts to the strut rod, while others have a bracket that bolts in with the lower shock mount bolt. All will work. Sway bars and larger torsion bars will hurt your 1/4 mile performance, but help everywhere else.

FWIW, the 73-76 style bar from ADDCO mounts to a piece of 2" angle iron that is bolted to the side of the lower control arm.

check out firm feel. their bars mount really nice. just tell them the entire setup you have in the front and they will help you find what is right for your car.

Sorry, but I don't know how to add a link.

how does a sway bar and larger t.bars hurt ur qt mile performance, more weight transpher to the rear???? :silent:

My dart has the .890,and I modified the K-member to accept the 73 style swaybar(it passes though the K)I`m using a 1 1/8 swaybar from PST.And have Polygrapite bushings.I have KYB shocks all the way around. It handles great!I`d like to install a rear bar,but don`t know if I can find one for a car that is mini tubbed.

Less weight transfer to the rear.
