Swinging for Divorce, Darting for Divorce....As far as Divorce, annoy your wife then she is glad you are out in garage wrenching on car and not bugging her. Hopefully dentist practice takes off get more money for car parts and give money to wife so she can go shopping.

The practice is doing very well… have more than doubled the size of the practice in terms of production.

Oh the wife shops don’t worry about that , we don’t want her spending anymore shopping. We want that money for car parts lol.

Got some 340 valve covers today… I was told they are post 1970 covers. paid 42 dollars shipped to me. Don’t even know what I’ll ever use them for as I don’t need them lol.

or better still buy her a convertible dart project, surely that's a win win?

She will kill me if we get another “project.” No more darts… said no one ever. Lol.

Got the new door hinges today, they are nice. I’m not sure how they work but I’ll figure it out with my manual and using my other dart.

I’ll go to harbor freight tomorrow and get some bolts to hold it together….

Valve covers in the purple dart have been holding up well for 3 or 4 years with the baffle screw holes being made from JB weld.

I broke down and bought some cheap bolts at Lowe’s. It’s just for mock up, don’t need anything to fancy for bolts. I’ll get a proper kit before final assembly. I still need to go to harbor freight and get some car dollies though.

Adjusted the hood bolts and it’s in a much better spot, again, during final assembly I’ll do it “correctly” speaking of hood bolts if you didn’t know… they are the same size as the fender bolts lol.

The drivers side hood spring bows outwards when closing the hood, I guess I’m supposed to grease the hinges though… wonder what kind of grease? WD40 would probably work.

They tend to do that.

WD will work in the short term.

When you do it right the FSM should say what type of lube.

My gut says the same type of lube used on the door crank slides would work.

Basically with the fenders off and the hinge in the position to make the spring have the least tension slather some in between the coils, and at all the pivot points

Doc, you can guy a bag of 50 of those correct 5/16 "Mopar fender bolts of the right Feebay vendor for like really cheap! They are used in lots of places as you will find out.

I’ll have to find a big bag of them, yea they are used all over the place it seems.

Luckily I know what kind of lube goes on the door crank slides… what ever those are… Windows I am assuming lol.

I did get my new FSM today though! I’ll check it out.

Drivers side door on and lined up pretty well. For just quickly mocking it all up I can’t be to mad about anything just yet.

Headed to harbor freight right now. Still trying to convince my son to do copper.

The front fenders, where they sit on the body and attach under the hood, the metal overhangs the body. I’ll have to figure out what to do with that.

Picked up some wheel Dollie’s. Will hang passenger door and trunk tomorrow.

Then bodywork??? Lol. Maybe I’ll watch some YouTube and see what I can learn. Will probably end up a waiting game to get the body work and car painted. I’ll have to find some other projects to do while waiting.

I store all my smaller parts in plastic pails with lids. I also bag set of parts, window and door clips, lip moldings, head liner hardware and miss nuts and bolts. It takes off a lot of hunting later on. Any parts not for my car (69' Dart) I label. Kind of like OLD family photos, if you don't know who they are, what good are they to you.

Yes, WD-40 for the short term, but I use lithium grease for all my hinges. Also if your overhead garage door in sticking or binding, apply a little on the track with the rollers. Keep it off your hands, it can be a little messy.

Amazing how much space all the parts occupy until you package it all back in the car. I'm finally finishing my 1965 Dart. I spent the most time on finicky stuff in the interior and dash and the fussy exterior trim of my GT trim. At least only missing a few trim parts, and might even have those stashed somewhere. I'll look closer once I put my just-repainted 1985 M-B back together (also confusion of parts). You can spend a fortune if buying "correct" parts for everything like trim attachments. Often you can do cheaper and better than the OE design by leveraging generic parts or for a GM. I use stainless fasteners from Ace Hardware wherever I can. I had most OE fasteners. I cleaned corrosion by soaking in Evap-O-Rust, then phosphoric acid to convert any remaining rust in pits, then painting. I did in batches, shaking the nuts and bolts together in a jar with soap and water, multiple times to remove all debris. When rushed, I at least spray fasteners with Rustoleum Rust Preventive. Might start using Fluid Film under all my vehicles, though minimal corrosion concerns in CA, though chrome plating usually pits everywhere.

That’s what I have been trying to do. I was thinking of setting up a paper trail of stuff as well. Not only have the boxes labeled but have a paper log with what parts I have and what box they are in.

Plus the paper log will allow me to see everything I have in 1 place and help me know what I need to get still.

Put the dollies together and put the front tires on, don’t have room in the rear to put those under the car yet and it’s cold and rainy so I’m not opening the garage to make more room.

Passenger door on. Had to drill the upper hinge holes a little bigger, but it lines up pretty well.

Trunk lid on and lined up decently. The lid has a bad dent in it that actually punctured through the sheet metal. Wonder if it’s cheaper to fix or get a new trunk lid.
