I got that, Look back over the thread, There was no way to tell what it was until the heads came off.

The heads came off and it is a pop up pistons super commando.

I was not questioning you about wether it was a commando engine or not.

You posted that you did not know if you could save the bottom end. I was just pointing out...

1. The info MAY have already been presented
2. The bottom end of all 273s is the same so easy to replace

There is no Super Commando. Commando was Plymouth and Charger 273 was Dodge. Just to correct some information. I call them HP 273's if I don't know what they came out of.

I am not sure what Mopar graveyard you live in but I sure would like to know how to find it.

Complete long block solid can 273 with a 4 speed bolted to it for $200 on the high side?

It might be able to be saved or maybe easier and cheaper to replace. You didn't mention if it a original engine you may want to restore or just an engine you want to build and use.

I have the balancer soaking to see if I can get it off.

If anybody local can use this, Come and get it.

Actually it was Feb 6th. But im just being petty.

Having 2 breather tubes on the valve covers suggests pre 67.

I'm really glad you got a 273 block that you can rebuild.

I have a 273 and like seeing them saved.

Thats a good buy.

It does not have the 4 speed and bellhousing and the flywheel, Then there is the 4 barrel intake to throw into the mix.

Are the motor mounts there?

Don't know.

All I know is the owner pulled it to drop in a 76 318. He said the 273 smoked he felt it was valve seals.

I wanted to pick it up but no room and I recently picked up a 79 318 with 90k on it.

Are there #'s on top of pistons? To see if its std bore. I soaked mine in marvel mystery oil.
Valve springs were also stronger 2bl vs 4bl. Not sure if if timing gears n chain were the same?
Those heads are close chambered and sought after. Don't be quick to get rid of anything.

I have the balancer soaking to see if I can get it off.

If anybody local can use this, Come and get it.
