Not exactly pertaining to the subject at hand...but it's going to come up.
Good luck getting a temp sender that will work correctly if it didn't come WITH the gauge.
My first aftermarket guage set came with a water temp sender. It worked fine.
Since then, though, gauges I've bought have NOT come with a sender and I have YET to get a gauge to accurately register the engine coolant temp with either the OEM sender OR a sender from an auto parts store.
You will likely have to do some calibration using a IR temp gun and add some resistors in the circuit to make it 1/2-way accurate.
If you're using the in-dash C--H gauge both the calibration AND knowing whether it's right of wrong is going to be a bit more iffy.
