Good Day All and Happy New Year.
Installing a late 70's /6 with the 'peanut plug' head into a '67 Dart. The later head is tapped for a 3/8 pipe temp sender.
The '67 sending unit is 1/8 pipe sender. Any suggestions on a 3/8 sender that would be compatible for a '67gauge? I would prefer not to use a pipe adapter.
Use to have an older Echlin Buyers Guide that gave all the specs for these things, but it apparently went away.

It depends on the Ohms value. That was the nice thing about the buyers guide, it gave you all that info.
The Dart has a gauge not a light.

I would use a reducing adapter and use the 1/8 sender.

Any sender that is 10-70 ohms should work. Sometimes they are listed as 10-80 ohms.

Thanks for the reply. So 10 to 70 Ohms is the range. That is what I needed to know. Haven't had much success finding out anything on the net.

While the operating range for a gauge is 74 ohms or so cold and 10 ohms full scale, a room temperature sender, at about 68F, will read around 300 to 360 ohms.
 
Just asking....but are you 100% SURE you're looking at the temp sender hole and not one of the heater hose barb holes? I ask because I HAVE a peanut plug head and it has the 1/8" sender hole, plus every year I look up shows an 1/8" sender.
 
If you truly only have a 3/8 hole available, just use the stock sender and a reducer bushing. Easy peasy.
