Yesterday I got my car started for the first time(by the engine builder) and he told me I should get a good mecanical temperature gauge like "auto meter". I found the Auto Meter Phantom Mechanical Water temp gauge for $55.24 my price (list $108.75) through car parts.com. Sounds ok I think, let me know what you think. Do you have a better deal?

I don't know what he meant by 'good',but I bought a cheapo set from Oreilly for bout 40 bucks. oil/water/voltmeter. They all work fine and seem pretty acurate. They work as good as the Auto-Meter Ultra Light set I have.

stick the probe in boiling water -if it goes to 212*F it should work fine.
