You need something to generate a trigger signal. Really, how hard is it to go down to Radio Shack and buy a bag of clip leads, and simply hook it up?
I did this to check mine for accuracy, the only reason it was in the car is that it was already IN there, and needed 12V. This could have been done on a bench
You need a computer with sound card, download a few tone files, something to step up the voltage out of the sound card analog output, and a 12V (battery) source to power the tach
Dad and I had the benefit of his car running, so we tested both his and mine under the hood and both werent working properly.....Mine was bought from prev owner that it was working...both tachs were dropped off to Mr Heaterbox for upgrades
