Edelbrock Magnum heads, with adjustable guide plates. Use a pair of "self-aligning" rockers to help center where the plate wants to be, push rod in place. Then tighten down.

there are the "tongue and groove" guide plates that stayed centered with the stud but can be spread apart...but your method works also...and less expensive.
what ratio are the Scorpion rockers and are they for a SBC?

I think the OP is saying he uses the self guided rockers to get the guide plates dead nuts on and then he bolts them down and put the regular rockers on.
