With a small block there are no issues with room with the battery mounted up front. Thats how the factory did it, even with 273 cars.

Glow worm, I noticed you have your battery mounted up front. Is it sitting on the fenderwell ledge? How much room do you have there with the hood down? I am thinking about moving mine up front but, Not sure if there is room there.

If your battery is mounted in the trunk why not leave it there? I mean I mounted mine in the trunk on purpose to a) clean up the engine bay and have more room for other things in the future, b) transfer the weight of the battery to the rear tires. I guess I'm just curious.
