Just got done replacing my worn out rubber flooring in the my '68! I decided to patch up all of my floor pans and put a layer of sound deadening insulation as well as new indoor/outdoor carpeting. After letting the carpet sit in the sun for a good three days it was simple to form it to the floor pans! Unfortunately since I do not have a welder and none of my buddies have one I decided on riveting in the patch panels of metal.
If you are looking for a cheap and efficient way to re-do your floor pans and carpet this is the way to go! The good thing though is it definitely makes the dual exhaust from the 318 much quieter now that I don't have holes in the floor board and insulation.
Carpeting 6'x8': $30.00
Insulation (A/C duct): $40.00
Patch panels: Free from a friend.
Adhesive (Liquid Nails and 3M Spray): $25.00
Rivets: $7.00
Total: $102.00!
I have ONE regret to doing this...I no longer have the same old valiant smell in the car that I was so used to for the nine years I have owned the thing! Sort of miss it now.

Now I just have to reupholster the center console...damn thing sticks out like a sore thumb!
