Most of you guys have probably heard of the Aussie A body chargers. Here in New Zealand, (Where our racetracks are a bit shorter and tighter than in Aussie) The chargers were a formidable force to be reckoned with.
A bloke I know recently made a short doco about these awesome cars. With some footage of the 40th anniversary celebration, as well as a bit of old footage from back in the day too.

Take a look- http://storyboard.co.nz/2011/10/08/widened-steels-episode-1/#more-1568

I have one of these cars stored in a mates Garage, with all the rust work done. (Although not a genuine "E" series car) Watching this footage has me itching for when I can get on with putting it on the road.

i wish they would have been available here...

Fantastic video and I have always loved these cars. I did R&R in Australia in 71, man I wished I had looked up a Chrysler dealer down there!

that was really really cool
great looking cars down there
triple Weber 265! WOW!

At the height of the muscle car era, Ford Aussie's best offering did a 1/4 mile in 14.4. The E49 charger (with 86 less cubes, and two less cylinders) did the same. With much less weight up front, the chargers were a sharper handling car. In Australia, the tracks were a bit longer. (In particular Bathurst) So the ford had slightly longer legs at the top end which gave them the win. But here in NZ, the fords got owned.
I actually sold some parts to Stan Dorsey from that vid. He's got the mopar disease pretty bad. But then again who doesn't?

Alright Valvebounce so who do you know who has one they're ready to let go to a new country ? I would love to drive cross country to Moparfest next year in one, talk about an epic moment.

Charger for sale- http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=409928923
That green one has an R/T guage cluster too. I've seen those sell for $2K+, for just the cluster alone. They were also fitted to the four door pacers. When the charger was released, there was no demend for the pacers. So they were mostly shipped out here to NZ. Many of those wound up wrecked after every man and his brother gave them 50 fast laps. So we have a disproportionate number of those clusters here in NZ. Guys in Australia who are building R/T replicas/restoring R/T cars have a high demand for them.

Thats all I know of for sale in NZ atm.
There's probably lots more for sale in Aussie though. Check ebayaustralia, or maybe mopar market.com if you're serious about finding one.
While it could be quite some time before I get to even begin working on mine again, (the g/f has got a kid on the way) the longer I keep it, the more it's worth. And I only pay my buddy $10 a week to keep it in dry storage in his garage. Plus we only catch catch up once a month or so, he tends to buy beers with the money, which I then help him drink. It's a perfect arrangement!

edit, the second poster in this thread http://www.nzmoparforum.co.nz/index.php?topic=8807.0 Claims to know of another one for sale too
