I don't know about birds eating feed off of astro turf! but I do know my birds that free range, they eat grass, weeds, and BUGS, ....o k an occasional worm, they gat a little cracked corn, and laying mash, but very little in warm months. those eggs taste wonderful. no comparison to those and the cheap (ish) store eggs. fact.
Got a few dead ones to take down to dads and throw in his outdoor furnace, once the smell of burnt feathers goes away it smells like someone grilling chicken!! Lol
Here's inside the eggroom... Don't mind the mess, still cleaning up. The packer isn't here yet either.

Never seen the whole thing but these chickens do run!!! Need to walk the barns at least once an hr to get them use to us
Lookin down the side of barn 1... Still have a lot of clean up to do outside too.
