I have a 63 plymouth valiant it's a slant six but i found a 273 and wanting to put it in it is it a pretty good eng. had one yrs. a go but didn't know much about them then everything the same with all small block's but the bore size and the 273 had small valves and did they have ajustable rocker arm.THANKS for any advise........

Try periods in your sentences. It makes reading easier.

The 273 in it's first two years have odd intake angles for the intake manifold. Changing heads to later years fix this issue. The intake bolts are also thinner. Any small valve 273 or 318 head will work with the 1.75-1.50 valves.

Some 273 did indeed come with adjustable rocker arms. Though any aftermarket will bolt in as well. Other than that, being an early engine, the timing cover and water pump style are different than the later years.

Just to add to Rob's post....'64-'67 273's, 2 and 4bbl, had adjustable rocker arms and used a solid-lifter camshaft....'68/'69 273's (all 2bbl) have a hydraulic cam and stamped-steel, non-adjustable rocker arms, same as 318 of that vintage.

Yes, the early 273's had adjustable rocker arms, and the 68-69's had stamped steel...

Most 273's also had forged cranks...

also in 1963 a v8 was not available in a-body's. so you will need to clearance the firewall for the distributor. look at any 64 and later firewall to see the difference.
