A good article from Hargerty Insider regarding parts availability for european classcis but the basics apply pretty much for all classic cars. Sad state of affairs trying to find quality parts for our Mopars at any price!

Reproduction parts have always been hit or miss. Back in the 1980s there were fewer parts available, however. Used was all we had for some of these parts.

Absolutely. I remember well scouring junkyards back then looking for things available new today.

It's not like we all have Duesenbergs or Ferrari's. When Duesenberg folded, all the blueprints for the parts got put away where new parts could be built to original specifications. Several manufacturers like Ferrari offer services that allow the company to still offer new parts to many of their older vehicles, regardless of age.

If you're doing a nice car, it's always better to restore old trim and sheet-metal parts than, buy chi-com crap. Budgets can make choices difficult.
