When I bought my 73 dart it had a carter AVS on it. well it finally craped out and my dad found a reman thermoquad for cheap. well it came in the mail last night and it had a wire comming off of it and i didnt know what it was. well found out it a idle air enrichment soliniod. 1st question is what all does that do. 2nd question will it be a good idea to hook it up and 3rd how would i go about hooking it up. is it a constent 12v? key on? hook it to a switch? etc

I think you got a later-model TQ with the extra smog junk on it. Hate to tell you this but I doubt it's going to work on your engine without a lot of tuning and modifications.

The idle enrichment solenoid richens the A/F mixture at idle so smog engines idle better when not fully warmed up. I'm guessing since your engine (what is it BTW?) had a Carter AVS on it there's no emissions junk on there, so you don't need the solenoid to work.

the engine is a 74 360 carb will go on a edelbrock dual plane.no emisions on the engine

Mike, what are the numbers on the carb. You'll find them on the drivers side carb pad, the vertical surface.

Secondly, is this a reto or a (Minus the intake) job or a HP build?

IMO, I'd return the carb and go here for your T-Q needs.;

and tell'em we here @ FABO sent ya.

This fella is very very good with the T-Q carbs and can ethier rebuild what you have and retune it per your build, sell you a proper one for the task at hand.
