but, in the dart wagon i have the og a.m. radio(and i want to keep it), is there a way that i can run another type of radio, cd/mp3/whatever via the cigarette lighter, and transmit through the a.m. mono system??like an a.m. transmitter?(cause i dont have f.m.) follow me? thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, there is, seen it done, don't know how though. Sorry.
 
Wouldn't it be like the old FM converters where you connect them in series and tune the AM to a certain freq" when the add-on was turned on ? When the add-on was off you just had the regular AM. Could be hidden in the glove box.
 
This was done on my car before I got it.


The AM radio was rebuilt and an iPod/MP3 jack was added
 
thats the thing, i actually enjoy oldies through the mono speaker believe it or not. down here in san diego they cancelled the oldies station except for random evenings and sundays! im just trying to not spend 400 bucks on a am/fm radio. although, this is what i would like to do eventually, and i do like the original radio(it's super clean)! those links are awesome! thanks for posting them. im almost thinking maybe just a small radio powered by the lighter just stashed in the center floor drink console for the time being.
