I am need of a kickdown linkage for my duster as it did not come with one. (My duster was in pieces when I bought it)

I tried looking in the local junkyards for one, and all I found was a 75 Dart sport slant 6 and a 1979 dodge diplomat with a 318. They both still have their kickdown linkages.

Now the silly question is: Am I able to use any of those for the duster? If not is there a way to tweak them to fit?

I know Lokar sells a kickdown cable for mopars, but at about $80, I want to make sure there aren't any cheaper options first.

I'm still learning about these A-bodies, most of my knowledge comes from 1980's dodge trucks. (which, thankfully I can still apply a bit of it to these A-bodies)

Depends what engine your car has , the slant six and v8 take different ones

Well it has a 360 with a 4 barrel in it. The Diplomat has a 318 2 barrel. Will the two barrel linkage off of the diplomat work?

I think the 318 linkage should work , make sure and get all of it from the carb stud to the transmission lever

The 318 linkage should work but will probably take some modifying due to it being for a 2 barrel and your car having a 4 barrel. Another question is what trans. does your car have? If it's a 727 the link from the bell crank to the trans shift lever is probably a different length than the one from the Diplomat because they only came with 904 transmissions. That may not be easy to modify.

From now on when you post a question provide details on what your working on because not all are the same. Saves a lot of time posting it all at once

Ok sorry for the lack of info:

I have a 1974 Duster with a 360 and a A999 transmission from a Diplomat cop car.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger... I bought a cable kickdown system, hopefully there won't be any hiccups.

No problem. Just helps to have all the info. I put a Lokar system on my car and it works great. One thing I don't think they mention in the instructions is anything about lubing it. I suggest lubing it up good with dry graphite. Makes it work smoother and last longer.
