Why am I not notified with my threads I am following updates?

I have asked this question before and not received a answer that is accurate.

sometimes it is great and other times nothing.

I have to go to recent posts to see updates on threads I am subscribed to.

WTF?

Yep the alert system has been boggy since last update.

Thing is -- I havent noticed a problem and nobody has articulated one to me specific enough that I can understand.

Have you guys went into your preferences and checked the boxes you want?

This is my take on it, if you get an alert to a thread your watching and don't go to that thread, them the alert is "dropped" so to speak unless you go visit that thread.
Just a WAG?

Sometimes my alerts work great, The next day they may not work at all.
Nothing has been changed on my settings.

I guess this is just something we will have to deal with.

They actually worked well from last night to today.

The alerts are sporadic on my end, PC. Sometimes I have to hover my mouse pointer over the tab and then they will show up.
A lot of times an alert of 1 will show up but when I hover the pointer over the tab the true number of alerts will show up which is many more than 1.

Another odd issue is that when clicking on the alert posts, instead of going to the new post it goes to 4 or more posts that I`ve already read. It doesn`t sync. up like it used to.

I`d like to add that I miss the alert number showing up in red. It now shows up in black blending in and not as noticeable, when I`m off on other sites.

Rebooting your computer or phone may help. I have experienced strange issues and that took care of them.
