Throwing my hands up on this ignition!

-
I have seen people that used 22 gauge telephone wire to run trailer lights. Green wire for ground, Red wire for right turn, Yellow for left turn and black for stop.

The lights were dim, real dim. I did not know what wires they were using till later.

I put a VOM on and there was 12.5 volts. I then put the Amp meter on and found almost no amps are getting back there. ???

Ran 2 each 12 gauges wires and POOF, bright stop lights. DUH!
Some people are their own worst enemy. They have only enough knowledge to be dangerous, but think they are Einsteins. Thus the telephony wiring. Aside from dimwit lights as they installed a resistor in the form of the wiring, it will fail from vibration, probably fairly soon.

N

Not according to some people on this post, it takes amps to do the jumping of the gap, it resulted in a big argument earlier where I was basically told I didn't know ****.

I said no such thing. I said amps does the work. It takes voltage to fire the gap. Why do you think a mag runs at an .018 or .020 gap? You need to slow down and think before you post.

I got news......I'm an electronics PEON and proud to admit it. I know how to knock my dick in the dirt and electrocute myself in short order. LOL

Yeah without amps, you have nothing. Amps is akin to water pressure. It's what makes current MOVE.

Sorry Rusty, I am not intending to knock your dick in the dirt for you. My statement is in general reference as to those that would use telephone wire for trailer lights. You look at purchased trailers and copy their wiring as it is engineered to function correctly.
Have a blessed evening.

I know it wasn't directed at me, I was just bein funny......and unfortunately serious. LMAO

Now you stepped in it Rusty, Volts is equivalent to water or hydraulic pressure. Amps is equivalent to the flow rate in the hose or hydraulic line. Resistance is like a valve pinched down restricting the flow. Hope I am not knocking your dick in the dirt with this. :)

I direct you to post #103.

FYI, I am an Alberta journeyman Auto mechanic, Heavy Duty mechanic (before they split it into truck and bus, farm, construction) and I am also an Instrumentation mechanic. I hold Interprovincial Red Seals on all three. So I could work in all Canadian provinces except Quebec as they have their own thing going on primarily involving language. Over 25 years pulling wrenches and over 15 working maintaining field instruments and control valves.

Now, to ask....

Is the OP even reading this? Did we answer his issues?
Hopefully he is in the garage working on his car and not wasting time reading all of this head-banging. I read the complete post because I was bored and felt like wasting some time.
Mission accomplished.
