Soon as he pulls the cob web stuffed 2 1/4 exhaust off and puts a 2 1/2 or 3", the idle speed will need reset, the tune all in all will need revised.
That's how back pressure works.
That said..
There is a bigger picture and most dont see it till they're faced with it.

The first kit I purchased was from Jegs. It was the complete kit. A minor trim at the rear bumper was all that was needed. This is a ‘08 video;

I also have, but not installed the H pipe. That will wait for when the drive train is installed and otherwise, ready to rock.

The mufflers supplied with the kit neck down inside. So I went and purchased the Summit brand turbo mufflers that do not neck down inside. The sound difference can be heard somewhat in the video. As I pass the first supplied set of mufflers, you can hear the tin sound they have through the muffler body. The second set at the end have a more husky thump though not a 100% true sound to them as the first set has changed the note a good bit. Without the first set of mufflers up front, the second set looses the fart sound. A more authoritative deep pounding sound.

The H pipe when installed should knock out a few scant decibels but help overall in power without loosing the pipe to pipe pulse to much of the true dual exhaust set up. The X like shares the exhaust pulses so well that the exhaust sound is shared so well it looses that heavy thump that bounces from pipe to pipe like the old days. Up top in the RPMs of a WOT run, the X pipe just simply shreaks like a Banshee! (Really cool IMO!)

Thanks man that is the plan eventually. I still have a lot to do before i put it on the road even when the engine is broke in. That is at the top of the list. Moparmandan sent me one on jegs thats a good deal

A smaller diameter exhaust has always proven to be louder in my experience.

Interesting. The car I bought has 2 1/4" exhaust except the mufflers that are 2 1/2". Car is pretty loud but I've never had such a small diameter exhaust before.

Would you guys trust 16 year old thrush turbo mufflers for the break in? The ones on the car were relatively new when I parked it but it's been setting for 16 years idk what has got in it and built a home or died or something else in there. I'm just worried about them being blocked or something. I'm not worried so much about sound yet I just want a smooth uneventful breakin . I considered cutting them off and welding on some cheap glasspacks but dont really want to spend the money on a temporary muffler. Or I could just cut them off and weld a piece of pipe and straight pipe them. What do you guys think?

What ever is in there will blow out soon as it starts and you’re reving it at 2500 to 3000 rpms
