Almost done with my tilt. It's all steel. Not as heavy as I would have thought. 2 guys can lift it off easy. All in all I'm very happy with how it turned out. Took me to trys to get the hinge design figured out.

The front tilts, the hood can be removed or the entire clip can be removed.

Still got some finish work but it' dam close.

Hmmmm... can u smell the smokelol more pics of how it's done ... love it I'm getting older n dam if that don't make twisting wrenches that much easier

The only smoke involved was from the welder and my cigars..

You can't have inner fenders and you must make a new radiator support. I used 3/8s bar stock for the new core support and to tie the fenders into the pivot.

The pivot is 1 1/4 tube welded to the bumper bracket. 1 5/8 rollcage tube is cut in half and welded to 1/4 x 2 flat stock. I notched the flat stock then welded tabs to the half tube with weld in nutserts.

I will get a better pic of the hinge tomorrow.

Very cool , is there any reason not to just have it as a quick disconnect totally removable ? Building a car w my son for my son and it will be mostly used on track untill he's old enough for his liscense ... being the guy working on it and teaching him it sure be slot easier to work on with all that room .

It' not a bus, it's a combi.

1956, all new suspension, new trans axle and a Subaru engine. The ***** of it is trying to find wheel studs for the mag wheels....

Four bolts and two 1/4 turn duzes fasteners are all that hold it on. Some guys have the front just sit on hooks but I was afraid the entire front may fly off at speed. This way it cannot come off unless I unbolt the hinge plate. To tilt all I need to do is release the two duzes fasteners, or just lift the hood off.

I would put 2 more dzus fasteners on the top just for insurance
but that's just me.
and the 56 is really cool!

My 'glas front end comes off ,hood 4 hood pins, front clip 4 Dzus fasteners. It makes it a ton easier to work on the race car.

I love it! Nice work, man! I did something similar on my 66. It doesn't tilt, but it comes off with 6 easy bolts and 2 people.

Nice! That 66 could tilt in about 15 minutes. You got the hard part done!

It's not a kit. It's just something I made.

I'll try and get some better pics for ya.

Its 1 5/8 OD, .120 wall with 1 1/4 OD .120 wall inside. They happen to fit just right.

2x1/4" flat stock welded to the frame that I cut on the notcher and welded the 1 1/4 pipe into. The 1 5/8 welded to the bumper bracket and is cut in half on the band saw with tabs and nut serts.
