Hey guys, has anyone measured the distance between the TDC points from the pre-69 (pass side marker) to the 70 and later (drivers side marker) on the balancer. I am using the early style cover and water pump with the bolt on tab, but using a balancer for a later engine, I measured and marked the balancer 5 years ago when I built the engine, want to double check it but no longer have the later balancer and cover to check against.

I scribed a new line on the new balancer to be able to check timing on the bolt on tab on passenger side, installed a timing tape around the balancer, been running warm and want to double check everything, planned on driving it to the Duct Tape drags on Friday, Lancaster, Ca to Tucson, if I don't get things sorted, I will take my '12 RT Challenger. It is supposed to be 102 there on Friday and Saturday.

Just use a piston stop to check TDC. That way you KNOW. You can check the degree markings, if you don't have a degree wheel, by carefully measuring around the balancer with a flexible tape, than calculate the distance vs degrees

I've marked several unmarked balancers, not that hard

VERY unscientific....

4 13/16"

I rotated my crank till it was on TDC on the 67 pointer.

I marked the damper at the 0 on the 70 up pointer.

I put some masking tape around the damper and marked the two TDC marks (should have done that first)

I took the tape off and laid it out flat and measured.

NOT accurate enough to scribe your damper but gets it in the ballpark
