I have a 64 barrcuda with 8 3/4 rear end, 6 leaf springs 3in lift, stock spring location and stock shackles.
I'm looking to put 255/60/15 tires on 15x8 rims with a 4.50 backspace and 0 offset, do you think they will fit without any modifications?
Right now I have
225/70/14.

8" wide probably not. These Early A's can handle a 7" with a 4" backspace. 255's will work on 7" wheels. I see yu have itt jacked up. That may help you out. Any pics?

255/60r15 on 15x8 Indy mags with 4” BS. The 8 3/4 is narrowed 3/4” and has dr diff spring offset kit. 235/60’s up front on 15x7’s.

I'd measure how much room you've got now with the current combo. That'll tell you pretty quickly whether 255/60s will work with the 8" wheel. The 255/60/15 will be about 1/2" wider at the tread on each side and 5/8" wider in the section on each side than what you've got now. Check section clearance to the spring and inner and outer wheelhouse. That tire's a tad taller too so see how much room you've got at the front arch lip.

I am surprised no one with a early Barracuda has commented yet. Someone will I hope. THere has to be someone in this group that runs 15x8's with a 255-60. Both are a common size. The tire will just look a little fatter on a 8" wide. Going from a 4 to a 4.5 backspace will add 1/2" to the front and back but a half inch is barely noticeable on the outside if you are wanting 8's over 7's just for looks.
 
It's not so much of wanting an 8in rim, it's what is available for me in a 5 on 4 bolt pattern. Found some 15in rims that size, wasn't looking to swap out axles at this time. Choices are getting harder every day with older vehicles lol

15x7 is the wheel you want. A 255 is pretty big for an early A-body. You'll have to do some work to get it in the wheel well.

If your car is small bolt pattern 4 ". You can drill your axles and drums to big bolt pattern 4 1/2 " in the rear. You will then use any 8 inch wheel with a 4 1/2 pattern and a 1/4 inch spacer. This will give you the 4 1/4 BS needed.

On the front if you have small bolt 4 in rotors you can replace them with 1968 mustang rotors from any auto parts store. A sleeve will be needed for the seal. You will now have a big bolt car with all your small bolt parts . Wheels will now be readily available.

Just something I see being done if you want something new besides Cragars. You can also have steel wheels made using your factory centers. Any width any offset. These wheels cost me $100 each to have made That was with the cost of the ring. I provided the factory wheels for the centers

15x8 with 4.25” backspace and 235/60 drag radials rubbed on my 66 barracuda, 8.75 rearend.

I’m also not lifted in the rear. My springs are moved inward 3” so I plan on buying a set of custom billet specialties rims. 17x8 with a 5.75” backspace

Right now I mocked up a M/T 255/60/15 on a US mag 15/7 with a 5 on 4 bolt pattern with 3.80 back space and 5mm negative offset and have about 1/8in clearance between fattest part of the tire side wall and 1in between tire and spring everything is stock except for the springs which are 6 leaves with 3in arch
Now I need to try it out when the weather breaks
