I have gotten screwed by UPS and Fedex, one way to circumvent this is to ask the retailer to charge you the taxes that we would normally pay here in Canada. I just ordered from Legendary Interiors and he gave me a "landed cost" which is the retail price, plus HST, plus an automatic $30 border crossing fee and then the shipping costs. from what I know broker fees are the border crossing fees and fees the 3rd party charges for collecting the "taxes". Your best bet is US post office, but I have had extra charges from them as well.....but rarely
