Converting to the TKX 5spd transmission here and discovered as many others have that there was more metal cutting required then implied by American Powertrain / Silver Sport Transmission. It also appears that the shifter location does not match factory like they claim so...

I've installed the Holley / Hooker BHS578 hoop but it appears to require trimming at the front. Based on photos posted by Arthur Sperotto and M0P@R_44, and our own test fitting, it appears that the trimming needs to take place -- marked in the photo with red dots.

Also based on photos, the shifter location seems to be different from others. Where it is now may interfere with the hoop.

Before cutting a brand new part, I wanted to check if the cut location was typical and if the shifter location was correct on the transmission.

1972 Duster. Small block. American Powertrain TKX kit 5 speed.

I’m pretty sure the shifter can be flipped around moving the shifter to the rear, if your able also flip the shifter mounting tab. Not sure if you can do that, the bolt it screw is covered by the red arrow.

I moved the shifter toward the rear of the car in my 68 Barracuda.

If you're using a console, you'll probably need to fab up a bracket like I did to get the shifter in the right spot so it's centered in the console top plate/boot. No console and you should be fine after you move the shifter position.
