To paint or not to paint?

Very little about Chrysler was ever carved in stone but as a general rule of thumb...
Their industrial grade engines with a forged steel crank were painted Chrysler Industrial Red.
Majority of blue engines will have cast iron cranks.

My 69 GTS was assembled on 9/17/68 the block was built in 68 and under the Repaint Orange I found original Chrysler red.

Can't apply to 340s though, because 'none' of them had cast cranks. At least there is no factory p/n for a cast 340 crank, that I know of.

Dont apply to slants either, they came red in the early to mid sixties and switched to blue and stayed blue till they ceased production.

Cranks were forged fro 1960-1976 and cast from 1977-2003 when crate motor production ceased.

Dont quote me but I think all truck engines were red.
