No, not "just" because it's a Scamp-#1 because Tim's a cool guy, but a close second is because it's a Scamp 
Went and cut the inlet out on the pan. Had to trim some overhanging sheet metal, above the pan. Green Scotch Brite ,2 casts of etch,3 coats of flat black. That part's done,time to smooth the surface out. Throw some LimeLight/Sublime on it.....

Have you figured out how much clearance you'll have between the the plate under the air cleaner and the underside hood plate? - And are you going to further modify with tin work to fill the gap or are you thinking foam?
Being my frugal self,foam. The fully encapsulated box,would be fun.Traditional installation & mock up,then measure. Off the cuff, 2 inch should work. Only time & experience, will tell.

It'd be cool to get something similar to what Chrysler used to seal the air grabbers to their air cleaners.
I know.... I'll check it out.Have to go study,what they used. You're correct, on the effects of rubber over foam here.

I picked the best hood ,out of 3. Of course, it was the crusty one. Been Rust Mort-ing,prime ring,and smoothing for 2 weeks now. Getting closer,being on a budget,sure burns time....

I had a choice: A quart of PCL high fill primer,or time and blocking & rattle cans. I don't like high fill polyester resin primer on high temp engine compartments. Its fair,not great... Progress.....

I used a cutting wheel on a air tool, hard to cut a round hole with a straight disc but take your time and comes out good. I used black door edge guard from the local parts store to cover up the edge. I centered the hole around the air cleaner, not the center of the hood. Remember, the engine is offset in most or all mopars.....but if a scoop is installed, then the scoop is centered on the hood :glasses7:
