Is anyone making these aftermarket for a 67 barracuda? Long story short, mines no longer in one piece :angry3:

i have a nice one here. 125.00 plus shipping. i do not think anyone repos them.thanks,mike.

haven't tried auto metal direct yet...we were thinking about making a template w/sheet metal and just boxing in the old one..

cudacrazy, i'll let you know if i want to buy it :) thanks

Having purchased one of those Autorust caps in the past, my opinion would be to get a nice rust-free complete original one from one of the members here.. even if it costs a few $$ more to get it to you.. the ART one is crap.. CRAP

Yes...it takes skills to install the ART caps but they work just fine when installed properly. Our 69 vert can attest to that and they are not made of crap...they can turn into crap if improperly installed though.

That being said, nothing is better than OEM stuff in this case. I agree that you should buy the one that is a few posts ahead of mine.

It's all about convenience and availability of parts as far as the decision to go either way.

Good luck on your build.

It wasn't as much that it doesn't work.. it looked like it was cut out with an acetelyne torch. The pieces were not anywhere close to fitting and needed a lot of grinding to clear what needed ckearancing. Finishing of edges? Non-existent. Since the reason I bought it was because the torsion bar socket snapped out of the original, I had to weld it in to the cap, and the hole in the cap was cut out again with a torch.. not even round! or if a plasma cutter, by someone who never had used it, or knows what a "circle" is. It was three flat plates, crudely cut, and more crudely welded together! The edges at the side to bottom were off at least 1/16" at the best spot.

It was a Mickey Mouse looking piece that looked like crap before and after installation. For the same price as one side cap, I had crackedback ship me a full rust-free crossmember from California to Canada. If you're even considering to have to replace both, save yourself the aggravation.
