......now STANDARD on all Toyotas! LMAO!

This is one of them:

"Brake Assist

Detects sudden or "panic" braking and adds the full pressure needed to help prevent a collision."

What a great idea! I guess the rest of the time you get spongy brakes? :read2:

My 2000 Chrysler Concorde has ant-lock power brakes and traction control. Toyota is soooo advanced!:bootysha:

Chryslers, Jeeps recalled over brake problems
2:21 PM Wednesday Jun 9, 2010

Few New Zealand-owned Chrysler and Jeep vehicles are likely to be affected by a recall over brake and wiring problems, the Auckland-based distributor believes.

However, Chrysler New Zealand is still awaiting more information from the United States, a spokesman said today.

"It's wait and see for us. We haven't had issues with any of the vehicles named in the recalls in the US and we're not even sure if it does affect us yet."

The recalls affect the Jeep Wrangler off-roader and Chrysler Grand Voyager people-mover.

Both models have been recalled in the US after the discovery of brake fluid leaks in the Wrangler and worn wiring insulation in the Grand Voyager. In all, 575,000 Jeeps and Chryslers have been recalled, of which 100,000 were exported beyond North America.

The Chrysler New Zealand spokesman said only a "handful" of Voyagers have sold in New Zealand in the last couple of years. Wrangler was also a specialist model here. New Zealanders tended to prefer the larger Grand Cherokee and Cherokee models.

US authorities believe the brake and wiring problems could lead to safety issues. Neither problem has caused any crashes or injuries.

The Wranglers affected by the recall were made from May 15, 2006 through August 9, 2009 and the Chrysler people carriers were made from February 2007 through September 2007.

This month, Chrysler issued a recall for almost 35,000 Dodge and Jeep vehicles for sticking accelerator pedals in the US. No affected vehicles were brought to New Zealand, Chrysler NZ said.

I'm still against anti-lock brakes. I don't want a computer or anything for that matter controlling the vehicle I'm driving. It seems like they keep coming out all this safety crap when a computer is taking over the car. Before long you won't be able to drive at all. The car will do it all for you.

hk, did you have anything to say that relates to toyotas bs ad campaign or are you just here to google search and copy n paste?

From your quoted quote:
"US authorities believe the brake and wiring problems could lead to safety issues. Neither problem has caused any crashes or injuries."

Ya can't say that about Toyota!

Saw a Toyota commercial on TV this weekend where the said, "Your safety is our number one concern." I turned to my wife and said, "Oh, NOW our safety is their number one concern?"

Nah, I'm sure that our MONEY is still their number one concern. :thebirdm:

Wouldn't drive a Toyota if it was free.

It's amazing that a little 4 cylinder can overpower 4 wheel power disc brakes.
I can't even do that with the Mustang or the Dakota.

Does anyone know about the Ford Explorer controversy with their gas tanks???

Was that hushed up?

Toyota sucks, about $200,000 a year into my bank account...We sold 76 toyotas on Saturday in one day...Some domestic stores wont sell that many cars in a month..

Toyota sucks, I agree, they also provide income for me as well, as I repair cars for a living. Toyotas suck!!!

Lets be honest here, you say you repair cars, how many of those cars are toyotas? And I am not talking oil changes, brakes ...?

Hauk 200,000 accumulated selling TOYO's is GREAT! ... 200,000 as a technician ... not so good....

I drive a 2008 charger srt8, 69 dart conv, a 71 demon, not the one I needed to sell as part of my divorce..And a couple of other projects..I never said I prefer toyota, but it does pay the bills and mainly supports my family. I am not a tech, and if I recall I have friends that are ford techs making alot more then my toyota techs..

Tech's make 200 000 + a year ... maybe if you live in California ( cost of living ) and you are a HEAVY Line tech ( rebuilding trans all day long ) and working 60 + hours a week ... that is RARE... in this economy . WARRANTY claims out number customer pay in Dealerships these days ??

Don't get me wrong .. i have NOTHING against who you work for ... Please lets keep family out of this...

You know, talking about computers running our cars, everyone has seen the commercials from several companies where the driver pulls up to the parallel parking slot and the car parks itself. Well when the sensors go wacky or the computer thinks its has more space than it really does and smashes into the cars in front and back, who is liable? The driver was not driving the car when the damage was done. The company's computer was so who pays damages????

The car has NO control over gear selection OR brake apply ... from all the systems i know of , The car simply calculates if parking spot is large enough and it controls steering wheel . Rear/Front park assist sensors notify driver with audible sounds , the distance from vehicle in front and back and driver applies brake .

The self parking feature is lame. If you can't park it you should not be driving it. Waste of time and money. Maybe Toyota should have spent more time on all the crap that's being recalled instead of a self parking feature.:read2:

Uh, Dave, Last time I checked, ALL of the high end auto makers(Lexus, Acura, Infinity, BMW, etc.) are making cars with the "selfparking" feature, which, imnsho, is for the brain insufficient who cannot figure out parralel parking.

Me, I park my own, and always will

That's rich. I know here that parallel parking successfully is part of your requirements to obtain a driver's license. Guess those that don't know how will just borrow one of these and receive 100% on that portion of the test.
