I don't need a trailer for my MOPAR!

A faulty freebie converter held me to a slow,8.50@82mph. It would not stall past idle (1000rpm's) New ones ordered, and we're going to do somem back end adjustment (pinion, pull a leaf or two, those darn springs just won't settle down any lower!) and we'll be back. Be nice to see a 7.50 on my timeslip before the Fall Fling. Looks like we'll drive it all the way. Too bad you guys do that twisty turning coastal drive. I'd drive it on that as well! But, this car you GOTTA DRIVE if you know what I mean. The front end handles like an old straight axle truck- constant input. Alot of fun, though!

Just had to say welcome again and thanks for sharing
a very cool race car Dale:cheers:

I really dig the shot of it on the freeway. That just rocks! 8) I'd imagine it could be a handful upon encountering the occasional crosswind.

We got finished completely swapping the rear leafsprings back to the "old style". Glendora Dodge held two of the 002's (which much to my dismay did not do a whole lot to restore ride height) for me to pick up, and we spent the day putting everything back, where the axle now reside on top of the leaf springs. But, I still had to put a spacer to use with my AFCO sliders. I think once these springs take their final set, I'm going to custom fabricate a beefy set of shackles to compliment the car, and get the "too new" sliders off. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. It ain't high in the back no more!! The nose high stance really exaggerates the wheelbase alteration!

The picture that always comes back to haunt me!!!! At least I painted the block Hemi Orange and not Ford Blue!!

Well at least your using a "383" and not a 350 cid. ;)

Personally, I recall when it was common to put other brand engines,
tranny's, and rear ends in cars.

Heck I have seen a Cadillac engine in an old Ford,
and Ford engines in old Chevy's.

Use what you have, and whats cheap, was the old motto. :)

We finished buttoning eveything back up, and I took it around a bit. It stalls quite a bit higher, the HEMI springs don't ride any stiffer than the super Stocks, and the sliders keep them from in place, preventing any side to side tire rub. New static pictures of it when I go back and play car bingo to bring it home from the shop. Thank God for car lifts!!!

Well- heres a couple of late afternoon shots we just took. Remember how it sat up tall in the back before?:

Well, not anymore!!:

Now it really looks alot more period correct!

What a difference a converter makes as well. The car is very rev-happy. Hopefully, in two weeks, we're back at Irwindale, and I hope to have some better times than our last outing.

dale,
it sure is looking SWEET! good job!
i'm sure this has already been mentioned, but what size rear tire are you running? also did you narrow the rear end or relocate the springs inboard?
thanks!
