Trans Decoding help

I have a 1987 Dodge Ramcharger 2Wheel drive automatic 318 V8.

I am having a issue with 2nd gear just not being there, which come to find out is the common problem in these trucks.

Anyway Im wanting to get it rebuilt but I don't know if it is the A998 or the A999. I was hoping some of you could help identify the trans by the number.

This is a 87 tranny built for the 87 year model and built on Dec 08 1986,and was the 7632 unit built at that plant,PK=kokomo plant,mrmopartech

Make sure the kickdown linkage is setup and working correctly. Common symptom of a kickdown not setup correctly is transmission jumping from 1st to 3rd. Just fixed my bro-n-laws 225/904 swinger...He rebuild the carb and didn't hook the kickdown back up correctly.
