trans question

How hard is it to take a 904 trans from a 73 scamp with a slant 6,and replace it with a 1970 727 trans from a 318? I think my trans is going and I have a 727 avaliable. thanks

It's not hard. It's impossible. The 318 transmission has a completely different bellhousing bolt pattern, so it will not fit on the slant.

727's are overkill for most slants unless its really hopped up or unless its in a truck and you're towing with it. They have new 904's on ebay for $350. It's more than what you'll find on craigslist but a small price to pay to never have to worry about it again.
