Hey guys
I'm back for some help. It looks like my trans is leaking a little out of the rubber boot or ring at the end of my trans where the drive shaft goes in. The trans is only two years old and it never leaked. I changed u joints and drag raced hard and now drips and you can see on exhaust and pink drip in photo.
Is it easy to fix and remove or do I need special tools. I have shop manual and they say remove and replace (?).
PLEASE HELP

Hey pilot, I have never done one, but I believe that is similar to a lip-type seal. Remove drive shaft, pry out the old seal, look like there is a lip between the seal and the casing of the tranny. And install new one by tapping in. You are going to have to buy a new one, so when you call tranny shop to order one, ask them, but I am pretty sure thats how it goes.

Shouldn't be too difficult. You will wand a pan under it when
you pull the drive shaft out as the fluid will come out the end when
you pull the driveshaft. I always use a screwdriver and pry
out the old seal.

Before I retired I worked at a plant that installed tons of seals in the product
that we sold. We always put lube on the rear of the seal where
the spring is. We always packed it full.

At home I use regular grease. I never install them dry.

Ive changed them and it is not too hard.:-D
You do have to take off the drive shaft ,but I remember I did need a special tool to install the new seal.

Thanks for the help. The part is only 15.00 so no big. I was worried about the install. I have done more major projects on the car but never drive train stuff.THANKS !

Jack the back of the car up real high so the tailshaft is higher than the rest of the trans and you'll not need a pan. Pans just get in the way under a car. the new seal might look different. certain replacement brands do not have that rubber piece that extends out from the tailshaft. should be no more than a 15 minute job.

I heard from another member that the tail shaft bushing may be bad and leak to. is that easy to get to?
thanks

I changed the seal and it still leaks. Now in the morning I'm going to change the bushing and another seal. One trans guy here locally said the yoke could be bad. WHAT. it just started a few weeks ago . so If I change the seal and bushing and it still leaks what do I do. Please any help, you seem like you know whats up
THANKS !!!
