Supposed to. Unless you are willing to go with special parts and a lot of work, you need to stick with the LA style converter, which has a different bolt pattern than the original Magnum flex. The LA flex is "keyed" by means of one odd-spaced bolt hole to keep the converter balance weights in the right rotational spot IE in the case of a 360 or other external balanced engine.

The magnum is balanced by weights on the magnum flex so you need to retain that to keep the engine balanvced, except "it might not fit" the 727 converter. In any case you need a flex (aftermarket?) that properly weights/ balances the Magnum which is weighted differently than an LA You need to remove balance weights (for a 360) from the LA converter when using with a Magnum
 
Yeah, as long as it's a neutral balance convertor, you just oblong one hole on the 5.9 flexplate and you're good to go.
On a 5.2 Magnum, you can also just use an LA flexplate, since they are neutral balance. But if staying with factory EFI, you'll need the mag flexplate so you can retain the crank sensor.
