My transmission seems to run fine, although I don't get a snappy shift. It also makes a whining noise once it has been run for awhile. I am not sure what makes that noise, I don't know if it is the converter or if parts in the transmission are what is making the noise. I am hoping the converter as that would probably cost less to replace, I am not sure the exact converter but it is a Mopar Performance converter and I think it is has the lowest or close to the lowest stall speed. Also I took it up to the strip by my house last year and it was at least a whole second slower then it was a few months after I had the transmission rebuilt which was about 6 years ago. Then would also make that noise after every run when going back to the pits. So does have anyone have any opinions on what might be the caused of the dreaded noise?
Thanks

does it make the noise sitting still or driving? Sometimes a whining noise can be the pump and that should be present even when sitting still and should change with rpm. If it whines when driving, some of that noise is normal but excessive whine could be a planetary gear. Is it a 904 or a 727? Have you drained the fluid and dropped the pan? I would do that and look for any unusual pieces in the bottom.

The noise is only when driving and it mainly happens when I am just driving around town. It is a 904 and I have not dropped the pan yet, I just got a new pan, and am planning to do that soon. I am hoping I don't see any pieces at the bottom but I am sort of expecting to, and if I don't it will be a relief.
