trany tunnel pinch weld question

If we weld the inside of the floor pan in the passenger compartment can we remove the pinch weld in the trany tunnel or are we making a mistake,should we just pound it over?????? Thanks Steve

Carefully bend it back and flatten it with a hammer and dolly from under the car.this will keep it rigid and sealed. Reseam seal the inside you may open the seam up at the transition to the floor. You can see in the pic below where the spot welds are in the flange the cut outs are not welded.

This is for a drag car so is the answer the same????? Steve
