Hey Guys,
does anybody know at when they are available again??
Heard about end of march?
Can´t find a source which have them in Stock.... everybody is waiting.
 
You posted this in small block mopar engine. Are you asking about big block heads? Trick flow does not list a 240 head for the small block on their website. They have four of the 190 head for the small block in stock. Part # TFS-61417801-C00, and it says they will ship today.
 
Trickflow was/is a local company near Akron. They were purchased by Summit a few years ago. So check Summit.

Yes i´m talking about the BB Heads. Figured out, that Trick Flow seems to have problems getting Valves... so they are available soonest at end of march...

I heard they were having problems getting valves too. I was getting ready to order them from 440 source and they disappeared from the website.
 
I just called Trick Flow, the 240 heads will be shipping in a week.
Good choice.My Machinist saw mine and said he they were very nice heads and eddy he has seen they have to do some work on them,he just changed my springs to match my cam.FYI he builds all kinds of fast stuff and has a record setting Fuel Altered
 
Everything I have read indicates a much higher out of the box quality than most heads out there. They cost more but by the time you pay for all the extra machine work to correct the cheap ones, your there.

Why not buy the bare heads and get the valves, retainers and such separate?
 
A Bare head for 930 bucks? And an assembled one for 1030
Doesn´t make sense to me.

Granted, but when buying bare, you put in the springs that match your cam, lift and usage, think tuning to your motor. I just ordered SS valves, retainers and springs for 300 bucks, yeah a little more than the 100 difference, but is right for the setup.

Exactly!!! Every cylinder head that comes loaded (complete) will have springs that have a 50/50 chance they will work with your cam and it’s needed pressures and rpm range. This is not always the case. In some cases, the loaded heads springs are mearly slammed together. This is often seen as bad valve jobs and various spring heights. Springs can be sensitive to there height. The higher the spring rate, the more sensitive it can be.

I took apart a set of Edelbrock heads. The valve job was passable. But the valve springs were .100 high. If it were .010 or so on these Hyd springs, I’d let it ride. But they weren’t.
Since I was setting up the head for roller cam springs.....
Everyone went in within .003

It’s just better all around to set things up yourself (or your machinist) from a bare head.

Noticed u said edelbrock , from what I gather , their quality sucks compaired to trickflows -------

Just curious what one would put into a set of bare heads be they TF or PC/SM. What brands, features etc are driving factors?

That depends on your price range. You could use Xeldyne springs and valves, (they are used in a lot of the new & vintage racing engines. Think Indy car, nascar, drag racing, etc.) or you could use cheep PRC (China) parts. Or any where in between. For my 340/416 that I collecting parts for, Xeldyne is being used as I’m going to throw all the trick parts into that mill...

The ones I purchased new were good to go OOTB. Zero issues, run the last 24 years. No issues. The ones I just worked, 20 or so years old. A quick hit on the valve seat, no problem. Valve stem heights on MY heads were fine. Valve stem heights on the pair i worked on, a bit off. I can not do a whole lot of work in my basement. The owner is fine with it. I say OK, he took them home and is happy as hell.

Purchase quality material. Do a search or ask the fellas here that port/work on heads what they use and why. The price oof OK valves and a good set can be a few bucks, but inthe end, you'll forget the price as the miles of smiles pass on by. Buy crap, spend twice, the previous smiles of saving money will flip into a frown.

REgardless , I have heard way more the other way around . I`d buy trickflows in a heartbeat first , if I was in the market for some .

Regardless? Huh? You say that like any of us had a choice 24+ years ago.
My TF’s were fine.
My Edelbrock heads were very early versions when the quality was still very good. The only thing TF back then seemed to be only Ford. The only aftermarket MoPar SB head was from Brodix or MoPar. Edelbrock was the first and only manufacturer to jump into the street head market. There was no other choice except MoPar or Brodix.
 
I talked to mancini today and they also said they are having issues getting valves.
 
440 Source has the 270 heads in stock, just ordered a pair. They are showing the 240's in stock as well.
 
I just bought some bits & pieces from 440source. First time buying from them. Found them great to deal with & got my stuff shipped quickly.
