Trick flow heads: different installed valve height

Look at the specs on the piston ....are they metric rings or 1/6 of an inch.......what bore size....?,,,,,what coating do you want Moly?,,,do you file to fit....order .005 larger ring.

Go to speed pro or total seal piston ring catalog and order to fit pistons?

Post the specs/part number on the pistons and I am sure we can help you.....
 
I would call Total Seal and tell them what you are doing and let them pick the rings. Be aware that the bore finish is much more important today than its ever been.
 
The 440 I am building has TF 240 heads. Complete heads, came with springs & valves.
Overall, I rate them very highly. But two things I noticed which surprised me:
- some valves had no shims, some one or two shims to achieve the installed height
- the intake face; it looks to be 0.040-.060" 'short'. Doesn't meet up with the block corners & the centre part of the head gasket [ where the exh xover is ] sticks out past the head. Don't know if this was done purposely or a machining fault.
