I think it is great, and should have been done 30-40 years ago. The problem, as I understand it is, it is Compulink only. So any track that does not use Compulink, will not have it. That would mean if a track wanted it, they would have another major expense changing their complete timing system.
 
Older thread but I'd like to revisit for a question. I understand the idea behind this and mostly think this is a great idea. But can't it also hurt the sport/economy? I mean now have no need to go out, spend money, and try to get faster (other than for the sake of going faster). Speed parts be damned. More money for beer I guess. I always had the mindset that I didn't want to be the slower car. I didn't want to be the "first is worse" guy. Now we take that away. I'd use to go out and spend the duckets, make improvements, and tune my *** off. I do see where a person might think this new system is a way to get more people involved in the sport. But I'm skeptical. Fairer? Yes. Dulling down the of razors competitive edge and desire? Inputs?

first I`ve heard of it. Who do u think it will benefit most ? It will benefit the remote control all electronic cars, because, when their off a .001 or so, it`s usually way closer than your footbrake redlight. I lost interest a bunch when all the electronics came in, their flat out boring in the dragster classes.
 
All electronic cars normally run in their own class so that should be a non issue.

How lame is this? First car red lights, game over *Yawn* Next pair up shortly. Sure doesn't sound very exciting.

When the "first or worse" rule became a rule there was no handicap starts, every class was heads up

Just like moving the point after in football, removing the red line in hockey or changing the point system in NASCAR. It's time to move forward

The rule is great if the cars all well matched and the tree is super close but anything over a half a second and you can see the red light and just leave later.
Advantage still goes to the faster car.
I would be more for a standard tree for the slow car and a pro or modified tree from the fast car. Or make both trees pro trees.

Not correct. If the slower car leaves too early, the red does not come on untill the faster car leaves. This is so the computer can determine which car leaves the greater amount too early.
I have not run it, yet, but I like the idea.

not all the time around here. bigger bucks in the remote control class too. dam stutter box assembly line dragsters are hard to beat for a footbraker.
 
OK if we want to be as fair as we can. Then how about we both start at the same time no matter what the handicap and let the computer sort out the best package across the line. No more sand bagging/fender racing. Who cares who crosses the finish line, let it be the package for the win? Just wondering?

I get it and like it........but i don't think the average spectator would, and cause less spectator.
