I had her out again for about an hour yesterday and I must say..... NO ISSUES!

But I do have a question: How do these plugs look? I thought they looked pretty good considering I was driving around town with no highway action. This is what came out of cylinder #2:

I'm running 64's in the center w/ 78's in the end carbs, as recommended by Ben @ ProMax. Timing is 16 initial, although I still have to play with the advance curve and change the diaphram springs in the end carbs. Otherwise, I pull the trigger and the sunofabitch PULLS HARD. And boy does that make me grin.... :-D

Damn I love driving her.....

Although I need to dress the tires.... :angry7:

That thing looks gorgeous. I love the wheels and caps. Any plans to do any striping or anything?

The only piece not on the car yet is the rocker panel trim for the gills near the rear wheels.... otherwise she's DONE. The trim is about 5' long and needs to be stripped and polished. That will be a nice snow-day project. :-D

Thanks for the compliment!

Spark plug looks fine to me.

That's what I thought. I was surprised the see them look that nice considering I haven't done anything yet as far as fine tuning....

She idles nice @ 950 and doesn't load up, surge or stumble. And she pulls like a freight train. Wow.... :toothy10:

Its always nice to get up in the morning, get on here, and see new pics of your Cuda John! I fell in the love with Barracuda's after seeing a 68 in Hot Rod mag back in the early 80's that was called Brown Sugar. Everytime I see that turquiose fish all I can say is AWESOME!! Thanks for the pics!

John

In the picture below you see the yellow line that's is where you want the burn (yellow arrow) to stop at. So you are very close to that now. You might know this but I read about this awhile back.

Edit... The yellow line could stand to come back to the elbow some in the picture so like I said you are dead on just about.

In my shop we have an expression for the guys whom just throw parts at a car until it's fixed: Dartboard Diagnosis. I hate to say it, but with the exception of Ben's recommendations on the jetting (which is a big part...) the heat range, carb. adjustment, power valve, and ignition timing were all backyard guesses that appear to be almost dead-on! Thanks for pointing out the area on the electrode as my Pal Tom & myself were kinda guessing on that too. Tom was of the opinion it was good, I thought it was too close to the tip. Score (another...) one for Tom!

I guess I deserve a break with all the problems I had getting this far (I haven't forgotten...) and now it's almost done. For the newer guys if you do a search for all my OLD Cuda Capers threads you'll see what went on 2 yrs. ago when this all first started. I almost set the garage on a fire a few times....

Looks a little lean. They shoot be tan but ts hard to read a plug with un leaded fuel.

That car looks great John. Done just in time for its winter nap, LOL

<Sigh....> I know. But at least if I get cabin fever in January and it's a nice day, I can take her out and go for a blast. Just imagine those carbs sucking in some nice dense 45 degree air? :toothy10:

little off subject...what size tires do you have big guy? and number 2...where are our videos we deserve?

thanks, kurt

1) Tires are 245-60-14 in the rear and 205-70-14 front.

2) No smokey burn-out videos (yet...) as I'm still taking it easy on the new engine. I've only had it up to 5,000 RPM once, and very briefly. As for some relevelant video, you can see why I'm not running any real tire out back. Until I sell my old house and buy a house with a proper driveway, THIS is what I have to contend with every time I take her out:

Not too tight is it.... and those concrete curbs are a ***** on sidewalls...

Oh ya (sigh) , that is the city for ya, tight tight tight.

Oh, forgot to add, the plugs look allright to me. Theres allways room for improvment, but what else is new and out there to drive yourself crazy on. With the recent drop in temp, your up for a rejetting.....I think I'd leave it alone for now unless you plan to be out with her in the chill for awhile John. It's not really bad.

She looks amazing John. Congrats again. I'm sure the interior will look just as nice as the outside. Waiting for the burnout videos :)

I think you're really close John. That plug looks pretty good. What does the center electrode insulator look like down near the bottom? I know it would be just about impossible to get a picture. Are you running the stock heat range plug?

Here's a great tutorial from 4secondsflat: http://www.4secondsflat.com/Spark_plug_reading.html

Plug looks really good John, I guess ya lucked out. Once ya get her broken in ya can see if they darken up, a little more brown, a little bit by running the bag off her.

Wow, Nice car. And a very tight fit in that driveway. Have fun with it till she goes down for hibernation.
