Turbo Scamp

Ok So you have trimed the radiator support and moved the stuff forward to some degree.. What are you going to do with the hood ltach mechanism ? I moved my radiator and ac gear to the other side of the radiator support all together.. But now no stock hood latch..

Any new updates??

Dang you are way more brave than I am. I am mocking up my TT Dart without it being painted. It will go to paint after I am done. It is really close to heading to the painter. You got some serious cutting going on thru NEW PAINT! Damn................I thought I was nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

I was just going through some old mags and saw the article on that car. Has he run it at the track yet?

Sorry for disappearing. This economy and other obligations have taken priority for the past couple of months. I hope to be back to getting work done on TurboScamp in the near future...

If you look back a bit, you'll see info on my locking hood pins.

Yeah, the accessories required way more cutting than originally anticipated. It was paint first and hope for the best, or put it all together, then take it apart again to paint and put it back together again. I chose the former, but wasn't as lucky as I had hoped. Still, I think my painter will be able to touch everything up without too much disassembly. And unwanted scratches are being kept to a bare minimum with all that blue painter's tape!

Mad Dart gave me a kick in the butt by sending a private message, so I figured I'd post some new pics and talk about what's been going on with this build...

Let's start with...The fuel system is completely done, lots of neat custom brackets underneath to hold the black, woven fuel lines. Also, custom accessory brackets had to be fabbed and then powdercoated.

Here are pics of the alternator and ac brackets, as well as pics of the fuel filter mount and a neat channel to protect the fuel lines.

Here's the beginning stages of getting the headers built. Silicone and aluminum water hoses and the crossover pipe mock-up (an expansion joint will be placed where the blue tape is seen on the pipe). Next is a jig to help in forming the exhaust pipes where they attach to the exhaust flanges. Finally a couple of shots of the first pipes and the neat jig used to help mock them up to the collector...

Sweet!! I cheated on mine and used the Hedman Block Hugger Headers. If I was to do it again for sure I would just build my own. I built everything else and figure now that a set of Headers would not be too hard to fabricate.

Keep at it!

Nothing technical, but just for fun, here's a cosmetic touch...new grant steering wheel. :D

Looking forward to seeing how you route the down pipes. Are you dumping them up front or running them all the way out the back? Keep up the awmazing work!
