Hey all -
Here's some pics of the twin-engine nostalgia dragster I crew on. Don't hate me because it's SBC-powered!
It's a trip. Pure old-school 327s with mechanical fuel injection on alky. Don Long chassis originally built in 1968; Tom Hanna tinwork; Tony Nancy seat cover.
This car was the best-engineered car at the '72 WinterNationals when it was powered by twin Indy Ford cammer motors.

Sorry for the dark pics. Shot these tonight at the Twilight Cruise at the NHRA Museum in Pomona. Enjoy.

I remember, when I was a 'ell of a lot younger, seeing the "Freight Train" run

That's too cool! Yes I remember seeing the freight train run, too. There was a pretty good list of multi-engined rails back in the day. Some even had two different brands of engines on the same car.

That looks like something that can be a load of fun to run and crew. Thanks for posting that up.

excellent shots, they had some stuff like that at Bowling Green
Hot Rod reunion....
thxs, for sharing..

Coincidently, Bob Muravez (former driver of the "Freight Train") stopped by last night to talk about the car.

...and, yeah, it is a lot of fun. 'Twins' always gather a lot of attention and a lot of questions.

Here's a couple of pics of the car from 'back in the day' when it originally ran Top Fuel with Indy Ford motors. Talk about a nest of snakes on top of those motors!

What was that one from the past that had 4 engines?

At least one was "Tv Tommy Ivo", 4x4, 4 engines

Very cool. Must be a blast!

Regarding the recent photo: Tommy Ivo a couple of years back in 1961. Four 454 cubic inch Nailheads delivering 1720 horsepower. It weighed a mere 3555 lbs? The four M&H 9.00X15.00 slicks, got it down the strip at 170 mph in 9.14!

There was also a car with four Allison V-12s and eight driving slicks built by a guy named Jim Lytle. Can't seem to find a photo though........
