I'm starting to regret changing the interior color on my '68 Valiant, just not enough to leave it the dreadful factory gold.

Is there a good, not-Classic-Industries/OER option for black windlace for a 2-door sedan? DMT only shows short lengths for the hardtops, and neither RockAuto nor their manufacturer's website shows a decent picture of what they're selling. I want something that looks like the original, just not as gold. I'd consider good used if anyone's got it, but it's got to come from a 2-door post. The 4-door pieces aren't long enough.

Does anyone have a good, reasonably-close-up picture of the grain in the RockAuto/Fairchild stuff?

Not in stock , Made to order ! WHAT !
I appreciate ya, AL!

They're selling the same Fairchild product RockAuto sells, part number and all, just at a greatly inflated price ($13 from Rock, $65 from Collector's; both are 16' sections). To find black, you have to look it up for a Charger... or El Camino, or Mustang, but not a Valiant. According to them, using their year-make-model search, all '68-'69 A-body post cars were 4-doors, and only used red.

I also noticed just now that if I click Rock's tiny photo, then right-click on the pop-up one and choose "View photo in new tab" that their little photo on the site is relatively large and of good resolution. I can see the grain on the side, which I'm going to call close enough for a driver.

They probably take your order & $$$$ and get from ROCK and have them sent it to you and make a profit ! HA

I did a 64 Dart. Ordered from Rock Auto wind lace for a 88 Dodge Ram pickup. $13 a door.
Worked great. Used the same wind lace when I did my 63 Belvedere 4 door.

That's a little different than the later cars. On '67-up, it's really just a soft moulding to give a finished appearance, and there's a separate door weatherstrip. But I appreciate your post because the fact that you ordered it from them and are happy with it is encouraging.

What you are looking for is Pinch Weld Molding or Welt, you may find something close but when I was looking everything I found was a little bit smaller.

We do offer windlace for Mopars for both the 2-door and 4-door cars in the different colors. We can send out samples for you to review and select what's going to work best for you.

Here's a pic of TAN windlace I got that I'm going to use on my '65 Dart 4-door...

mopowers, I believe it was the Precision. As usual prices have gone way up in 6 years. At $24 still beats the resto prices of over $100.But if you want any color than black, well.

NoCar340 I see it changed on your 68. I looked at photos of when I had my 68 Valiant.
Oh well, I tried.

...and just for fun, Chrysler called it "weathercord".

I ended up ordering the Fairchild stuff from RockAuto. It looks pretty close to what's on my '69 than the eBay stuff, and hopefully I can call it close enough. I'll put up some pictures when I get it, compared to the existing stuff I have for both the '68 and '69.
